Monkey torture in Malaysia
The Honourable Tan Sri Idrus bin Harun Attorney General Malaysia Dear Attorney General: I am writing to you regarding the torture and killing of baby monkeys in Malaysia. The abuse was filmed to distribute online, including in "monkey torture groups". The monkeys were long-tailed macaques, a species of non-human primate that is protected according to the 2010 Malaysian Wildlife Conservation Act. A report containing disturbing evidence filed with the Malaysian police force in January 2023, was subsequently classified as "No Further Action (NFA)" by the public prosecutor. This is alarming. I respectfully appeal to you to reconsider this case of such extreme violence inflicted upon baby monkeys, and to take appropriate action. If people are not punished for such appallingly cruel behaviour, the abuse will continue. Yours sincerely,
