Fauci, MD Director National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Dear Dr Fauci: I am writing to strongly object to research being funded by the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. I refer specifically to an extremely inhumane study in which rhesus macaques were subjected to lethal radiation and allowed to suffer immensely and die as a result (grant AAI12044-001-07000; see reference below). The work was done by Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences researchers at the University of Maryland Baltimore. Not only is such research immoral, it has no direct benefit to people and the resources used would be better applied to help people directly. I urge the NIH in its entirety to stop funding these cruel experiments and to end the use of non-human primates as 'surrogates' for human beings.
